Fort Cobb-Broxton Public Schools A-3 (Accelerated Academic Achievement) After School Program

21st Century Learning Community Grant

WHO:    FCB students in K – 12th grades

WHAT:  We are pleased to announce an after school program for our students beginning September 19, 2023, running through May 10, 2023, Monday-Thursday, regular school days. The Summer Program will be held June 3rd- June 28, Monday-FridayThis program is made possible by a grant from the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

WHEN:      3:05 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  After School Tutoring & Activities (Monday – Thursday)

                  7:00am -7:45am Before School Programming (Monday-Friday)

                  FCB A-3 After School Program will offer tutoring and homework help that will assist students in meeting state and local performance standards in core academic subjects. The program will also offer opportunities for academic enrichment activities that will include reading, writing, verbal communication, problem-solving, and decision-making. During activity time students will play board games, participate in physical activities, enrichment activities, attend and participate in presentations by community partners, and take field trips to local educational and cultural attractions. These structured activities will correlate to the school curriculum, enable students to learn new things, and provide opportunities for students to practice the knowledge gained. If regular school is canceled for any circumstance, A-3 After School will be canceled also. If your child won’t be attending A-3 on a particular day(s) or there is a change of transportation plans for the day please send a note with your child in the morning. If we do not receive a note or phone call we will assume your child is attending on the days they are signed up and following their transportation plan.

Discipline Plan – Participants are expected to follow the rules of their student handbook and other site-specific rules.  In order to maintain a safe and fun environment, staff will work closely with parents and participants to ensure proper behavior.  In the event of a disciplinary problem, the director will speak with the student.  When two disciplinary problems have occurred, a conference or phone call with the student, parent, and project directors will occur.  If the third disciplinary problem occurs, the student may be suspended for days, weeks, or permanently, depending on the severity of the behavior.  Physical aggression against other participants or staff or running away from program activities may result in an immediate suspension after the first incident. Participants will forfeit their space from the program for the following reasons: excessive absences, behavior that threatens physical or emotional safety of self or others, or breaking any school rules that are deemed worthy of termination. All decisions of the program director are final.

  • Tutoring and activities will take place at Fort Cobb-Broxton Schools.

  • There will be NO TRANSPORTATION for students who live in town. We start releasing the students around 5:25.  Parents\Guardians must be on time to pick up their child (ren) promptly before 5:30 pm. Also remember, there will be no early pick-ups between 5:00 and 5:25 pm. Repeated tardiness picking up your child can result in dismissal from the program.

  • There will be transportation for out of town students that may include drop off and pick up points.

  • Students will be required to attend at least 2 days a week.*

  • Students will be required to participate in some form of physical activity; students may not be “signed out” of their physical activity.

  • Snacks will be provided to participants for free.

  • Students will not be called to the office for early pick up until they have been checked out in the front office.

* We require you to have your student attend a minimum of 2 days per week.  Simply put, evidence exists that shows positive gains for students who attend programs like this at least 60 days in a school year. 

We take responsibility for your child’s safety seriously. The following policies are for the safety and well-being of all of our students.

  • If there is a change of plans for the day and I do not call or send a note on my child’s regular after school enrollment day, they will be kept at after school. We will not take their word for a change of after school enrollment or plan.

  • If there is no note or phone call all K-5th-grade students will follow their transportation plan. We will not take their word for a change in transportation plans.

  • If a K-5th-grade student does not stay at 3:05 without a note or phone call excusing them they will be considered a walk-off and subject to suspension or expulsion.

  • All students must be checked out through the office by the front doors of the high school, never from their classrooms or enrichments. Failure to check out will be considered a walk-off and subject to suspension or expulsion.

  • All visitors, parents or guardians must enter through the front doors of the high school.

If regular school is canceled for any circumstance, A-3 After School will be canceled also.
